Nov. 11, 2007
The meeting began a little after 5pm. In attendance:
Justin Nicholas
Jonathan Ferretti
Aaron Silverstein
The meeting began after quick repairs of Justin's 4x12 cabinet and Aaron's output jack.
We began with the concept of spontaneous creation; the idea of making music out of thin air with no predetermined aspects. Everyone got a turn to create a part (or 'theme' as we referred to them) and in essence we made 3 mini songs, or 1 3 part song. This part worked out much better than could be normally expected.
We then took on the task of approaching and breaking down a cover song. Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" was the order of the evening. After getting through the bulk of the parts and arrangement, it evolved into some soloing all around by all.
We concluded by turning the reigns over to the students to create a 'bonus' section to the 3 part song. This turned into Justin showing and explaining one of his personal riffs.
The meeting was another success, and mutually was a lot of fun. Once again, thanks to all in attendance
